vulture festival celebrates entertainment fandom in hollywoodWhen it comes to throwing big star-studded events that celebrate all facets of entertainment, there’s no place like Los Angeles. Even the New Yorkers of Vulture think so. Vulture Festival comes to town this weekend, and as the publication’s editor-in-chief, Neil Janowitz explains, the location has been a pivotal part of its magic.

“After 5 years producing the festival in L.A., we’ve seen how much the environment heightens the spirit of what we’re doing — especially being at the Hollywood Roosevelt, where the first Oscars were held Plus, all of us from New York like coming to Los Angeles in November.”

The multi-day pop culture celebration offers panels and events that rival ComicCon in terms of hot ticket line-ups. Held at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, this year’s event boasts a Halloween panel with Jamie Lee Curtis, live podcast presentations with Emmy standout Sheryl Lee Ralph and comic actor/writer Kumail Nanjiani, an acting class with the Fonz himself Henry Winkler, White Lotus love-in with Meghann Fahy, a pool party with Bob the Drag Queen, Shangela, and Eureka O’Hara from We’re Here, and a Hedwig and the Angry Inch anniversary bash with John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask. Other shows represented at the fest include: The Proud Family, Grey’s Anatomy, Gangs of London, and Tulsa King, to name a few.

“In the same way that Vulture caters to so many different audiences and fandoms, Vulture Festival brings together all of our disparate cultural passions and interests to create an event that feels cohesive and utterly distinct,” says Janowitz. “It’s a part intimate conversation with your favorite entertainers, part theater camp, part cabaret, and more, in an enthusiastic celebration that entertainment and pop culture junkies love year after year.”

7000 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood; Sat.-Sun., Nov. 12-13. See the full Vulture fest schedule here.
