In a heart-wrenching development, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has revealed that the beloved Nollywood actor, John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, has recently undergone a leg amputation and is now barely able to speak. This revelation has sparked an urgent call for prayers and support from fans and well-wishers for the ailing veteran.

Dr Emeka Rollas, the National President of AGN, expressed deep concern about the deteriorating health of Mr Ibu, as well as another esteemed actor, Amaechi Muonagor, who has been battling health issues and has been hospitalized at the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra State, for over two months.

Providing an update to the press, Dr Rollas shared, “We are closely monitoring Ibu’s case and are deeply concerned about the state of health of Amaechi Muonagor. Mr Ibu has recently undergone another leg amputation and can hardly talk. Amaechi Muonagor, on the other hand, is a shadow of his former self, with completely paralyzed legs.”

The news of Mr Ibu’s health struggles has left many in shock, as his family had previously reported that the actor had undergone multiple surgeries, with the hope of preserving his life. Regrettably, one of his legs had to be amputated, and plans were underway to fly him abroad for further treatment.

Dr Rollas, speaking to Vanguard, expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “You will shed tears if you see Amaechi Muonagor now, his legs are completely paralyzed. I’m calling on all fans and well-wishers of the actor to join hands with other philanthropic Nigerians to support him in this dire time.”

In a gesture of support, Dr Rollas approved the disbursement of N250,000 from the AGN Trust Fund to be sent to Mr Ibu’s account, acknowledging that more support is needed. He also urged young actors to consider enrolling in the AGN HMO and Insurance programs, emphasizing the importance of securing comprehensive healthcare coverage.
