After an uproar over Spider-Man parting ways with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the franchise announced the superhero is staying put for another film.

Marvel president Kevin Feige said he was “thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue” in a statement provided to wowplus.

“I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” the statement continued. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

“This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in ‘Far From Home’ and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes,” producer Amy Pascal said in the same statement. “This has been a winning partnership for the studios, the franchise and the fans and I’m overjoyed it will continue.”

The third film in the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” series is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021.

The latest Spider-Man himself Tom Holland reacted to the news Friday with a NSFW clip of Leonardo DiCaprio in “The Wolf of Wall Street” posted to his Instagram.

“I’m not (expletive) leaving,” DiCaprio says in the clip, which Holland captioned with a smirking face emoji.

Co-star Zendaya also reacted to the news, tweeting a gif of a dancing Spider-Man.

In August, negotiations broke down between Disney and Sony Pictures for future Spider-Man films, sending fans into a panic.

Sony has controlled the rights to the web-slinger since 1999, but the two studios have been happily (or so we thought) sharing Spider-Man across a plethora of films since 2015, including major roles in the latest “Avengers” movies. As part of the previous agreement, Marvel had also been acting as a producer on the 2017 and 2019 standalone Sony “Spider-Man” movies starring Tom Holland, which were both box-office blockbusters.

the studio said the outstanding issue remained over the future involvement of Marvel President, and comic movie mastermind, Kevin Feige as a producer in future Spider-man films.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise,” the statement said. “We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film. We hope this might change in the future.”
