In a heartfelt appeal, popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, has urged President Bola Tinubu to pardon the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho. K1 De Ultimate made this plea during a live performance, emphasizing the need for peace and unity in Nigeria.

The musician called on Tinubu to harmonize all interests, regardless of tribe, be it Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa, and stressed the importance of embracing one another as fellow Nigerians. Drawing from a Yoruba proverb, he urged Tinubu to forgive those who may have offended him, stating, “One cannot say because one’s daughter has ample buttocks, he would put the waist beads on another man’s daughter.”

K1 De Ultimate further implored Tinubu to address the ongoing issue surrounding Sunday Igboho’s return to Nigeria. He emphasized that Igboho is a Yoruba son and should be allowed to come back to his roots. The musician also suggested that leaders from various regions should engage in a roundtable discussion with agitators to find common ground and resolve the existing tensions.

Sunday Igboho gained international attention in July 2021 when he was arrested by Interpol at Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic. This came after he had escaped from Nigeria following a manhunt by the Department of State Services (DSS). The DSS had declared Igboho wanted for allegedly stockpiling weapons in his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Following his arrest, Igboho was detained in a prison in the Benin Republic. However, in March 2022, he was released for medical attention on the condition that he would not leave the country. Since then, Igboho has remained confined within Cotonou.

The plea from K1 De Ultimate comes at a crucial time when tensions in Nigeria are high, with various agitations for self-determination and calls for restructuring. The musician’s appeal to President Bola Tinubu, a prominent political figure in the country, carries weight and highlights the need for a peaceful resolution to these issues.

In conclusion, the plea from K1 De Ultimate to President Bola Tinubu to pardon Sunday Igboho and facilitate his return to Nigeria adds a new dimension to the ongoing discussions surrounding self-determination and unity in the country. The appeal emphasizes the importance of forgiveness, dialogue, and inclusivity in resolving these issues. As Nigerians await President Tinubu’s response, the nation remains hopeful for a peaceful resolution that will bring about lasting unity and progress.
