In a daring display of military precision and courage, the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with a hybrid force and elements of the Civilian Joint Task Force, launched a successful raid on the terrorist stronghold of Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Lake Chad region. The operation, which took place on Wednesday, culminated in a fierce battle that saw the neutralization of three terrorists and the recovery of crucial assets.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, revealed in a statement released on Friday in Abuja that the troops engaged the insurgents with unparalleled determination and firepower. The clash resulted in the demise of three terrorists and the capture of a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, a truck-mounted anti-aircraft gun, and a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

The militants, armed with a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), mortar, gun trucks, and motorbikes, launched a fierce assault on the troops. However, the Nigerian forces, displaying exceptional skill and bravery, swiftly turned the tide of the battle. The insurgents were overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the troops, compelling them to flee their stronghold, leaving behind a trail of abandoned armaments and equipment.

Maj.-Gen. Nwachukwu emphasized that the relentless pursuit of the routed insurgents by the courageous troops is ongoing, as they continue to exploit their success and maintain pressure on the enemy forces.

In a separate operation targeting criminal hideouts in Katakpa Village, located in the Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the Nigerian Army troops achieved another significant victory.
