Protesting students of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Uvwie Council Area of Delta State on Thursday shut down academic and commercial activities at the institution over the poor condition of living and the management refusal to release money for their 2017 students’ week.

The students condemned the school management tactics to continue to subject them to inhuman living despite efforts being made by the Student Union Government to address the plight of the students whom they claimed live in an unhealthy environment.

The protest which commenced as early as 6am, the students also sacked the private security at the main entrance and laid siege on the entrance, locking out lecturers, staff, and visitors to the institution.

At about 9am when our correspondent visited the school, the lecturers, some top management staff, and this reporter were denied access into the premises by the aggrieved students who displayed placards demanding improved accommodation.

They vowed that the school would remain locked until the institution’s management agree to meet their demand, stressing that there would soon be disease outbreak in the school if the poor living condition was not improved upon.
