Abia State Government has vehemently denied the allegations made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it is planning to mobilize protests in order to sway the outcome of the election tribunal ruling in the state. The government also refuted claims that it, along with the Labour Party, intends to cause chaos if the ruling does not go in their favor.

In a strongly-worded statement signed by Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Alex Otti, the government dismissed these allegations as baseless and the product of corrupt leaders who are desperate for public funds.

Ekeoma described the PDP’s allegations as nothing more than misleading fabrications and an infantile strategy. He emphasized that while Otti and his party, the LP, have been focused on governance, the PDP has been engaging in endless propaganda to misinform the public about the events at the election petition tribunal.

“The Labour Party has conducted itself with decency and decorum, unlike the PDP and the former government, who unleashed hoodlums in and around the tribunal premises during their tenure. The facts on the ground clearly show that the PDP and its army of thugs have been the ones causing disturbances through their actions and utterances, in the false hope that their siege strategy would pressure the justices into handing them an undeserved victory,” the statement read.

The government also accused the PDP and its candidates of attempting to bribe judges in order to compromise the outcome of the ruling, but without success. It further stated that the false alarm raised by the PDP was likely an attempt to deter their own supporters from attending the tribunal, while giving the false impression of their popularity and acceptability.

“We, the Alex Otti led-government and the Labour Party, are far too responsible and too committed to causing mayhem in a state that we govern. Our aim is to restore sanity after the years of horrendous pillaging and plundering by the PDP,” the statement continued.

In light of these allegations, Ekeoma urged security agencies to take immediate action to prevent any nefarious plots by the PDP from being carried out.

The PDP had previously raised the alarm on Thursday, claiming that the Abia State Government and the Labour Party were mobilizing certain groups to stage protests in an attempt to influence the election petitions tribunal. Abraham Amah, Vice Chairman of the party, signed the statement and also alleged that both the state government and the Labour Party were fearful that the ruling of the tribunal may not be in their favor.

It is important to note that the Abia State Government has vehemently denied these allegations and has called for security agencies to intervene and put an end to the PDP’s alleged plots.

This denial by the government comes at a crucial time as the election petitions tribunal ruling is eagerly awaited. The outcome of this ruling will have significant implications for the political landscape of Abia State. As the state government and the PDP continue to clash, it remains to be seen how this will impact the tribunal’s decision and the overall political climate in the state.

The government has called on security agencies to take action and prevent any attempts by the PDP to influence the election tribunal ruling. As the political tension continues to escalate, all eyes are now on the tribunal as it prepares to deliver its verdict.
