The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has condemned the murder of two soldiers in Enugu State by unknown shooters.
Ohanaeze’s reaction was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by its President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, and the Secretary-General, Comrade Obinna Achuonye.
Shooters attacked a military location in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State and killed two soldiers.

In his reaction, the Ohanaeze Youth leader said that some unknown persons were desperately working to truncate the peaceful record of the Coal City State.
While commiserating with the Nigerian Army and the families of the late officers, he called for a proper investigation.
“We are saddened over the killing of two soldiers in the line of duty at Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. The gruesome murder is highly condemnable by the youths of Enugu State and Igbo youths worldwide.
“We sympathize with the Nigerian Army and the families of the deceased soldiers in this moment of grief,” he said.
The OYC, however, said the Army high command was too quick in blaming the attack on the Eastern Security Network.
“While we are not holding the brief for any group, we must say that this idea of security agencies always rushing to the media to blame any security breach on the ESN is totally wrong.
“We have not forgotten how the attack on Owerri Police headquarters and prison facility was blamed on the ESN, only for Governor Hope Uzodinma to later say over 70 percent of perpetrators are not even from Igboland.
“So, it is high time the security agencies should stop jumping the gun; there should be a discreet investigation after this kind of incident; we do not know whether the attackers had ESN written on their faces?

“Investigations on issues such as this should not be compromised based on sentiments. There is a possibility that terrorists are here with us, whereas every blame goes to ESN,” he added.
The group reaffirmed their support for Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration to restore absolute peace in the State.
