Chelsea’s new co-owner, Todd Boehly, was reportedly irritated when he became aware that the club missed an opportunity to sign midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer of 2021, according to Sport.

Chelsea had been linked with a move to sign Tchounameni during his time at Monaco.

But the France international ended up joining Real Madrid this year during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old star has appeared in 584 minutes across Real Madrid’s nine matches so far this season.

Tchounameni has provided two assists for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, fitting in well in the squad following Casemiro’s departure from Santiago Bernabeu to Manchester United.

However, Boehly has found out that Chelsea passed up the opportunity to land Tchouameni last summer for €35million.

Chelsea’s hierarchy at the time was not sure whether Tchouameni could perform right away in former manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Instead, they opted to sign Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico Madrid.
