It has, however, claimed that its adversaries are stockpiling weapons in Pakistan in preparation for an invasion of ‘Biafraland’ (largely Southeastern Nigeria).
The group made the announcement in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Monday.
This was stated by the secessionist group in response to a statement made in the media by one Shekau in the Biafra struggle.
It also stated that it had interfered with the planned governorship election in Anambra State, and that its main goal is self-determination.
“We, the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, have read with amusement a fallacious media remark by one insignificant Shekau, a self-proclaimed supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, where he displayed his ignorance and cluelessness about Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the goings-on in Biafra land.”

“As much as we would prefer not to respond to this amorphous fellow, the pertinent question is: who is this Shekau without a surname that a national newspaper like Daily Trust should publish?
“It is unfortunate that this ignoble fellow and attention seeker compared IPOB to Boko Haram terrorists, who were created and groomed by the North to kill Jewish and Christian adherents, indigenous Northerners, and security agents.

“IPOB has seen numerous instances of false propaganda in the past, and we are unmoved by this latest vomit. We are well aware of our adversaries’ antics, which include sponsoring media lies to cover up their evil and denigrate our struggle for independence, but we are unafraid.

“Contrary to what this insignificant fellow says, IPOB has no plans to attack South Easterners and South Southerners. First and foremost, violence is not part of our philosophy. If we are to resort to violence, how can we attack the people for whom we are fighting? It doesn’t make sense.
“But we know why they are spreading this lie because our intelligence report confirms the importation and stockpiling of arms from Pakistan for their planned invasion of Biafraland, but we are still waiting for them.
“We are astounded that a terrorist like Shekau without a surname will be the one telling Biafrans to hate their own while he and his kinsmen openly protect their own terrorists and bandits who maim and kill them throughout the Northern region.

“It is also worth noting that, contrary to popular belief, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has not officially declared a ‘no-election in Anambra State.’ Our primary concern is the restoration of Biafra. Anyone who associates IPOB strategy with Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, and Fulani herdsmen is both ignorant and malicious.
“Many eminent Northerners have no idea what we are doing to restore Biafra.”
