With Antero Henrique set to take over from Patrick Kluivert, the Ligue 1 runners-up have their eye on a major summer transfer coup in the Chile star
Paris Saint-Germain are poised to appoint Antero Henrique as their new sporting director, Goal understands, and he is ready to make Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez the club’s No.1 priority in the transfer window.
Alexis’ future in Arsenal’s hands – Wenger
The former Porto director was initially the favourite to take over the role from Patrick Kluivert, who was only appointed last summer, but Andrea Berta of Atletico Madrid had come to the fore in recent days.
PSG even held a meeting with the Italian, jetting him out to Qatar in order to be able to do so, but the move was ultimately blocked by the Primera Division outfit.
As a consequence, PSG have moved back to their initial track, with Henrique now set to become their sporting director in the days to come.
He will lead their transfer strategy and his first task will be persuading Alexis to move to the French capital — a task Kluivert has undertaken for several weeks now.
Henrique, however, faces a significant challenge as many of Europe’s biggest sides are vying for the Chile international, and even though reports in Germany suggest Bayern Munich may have cooled their interest due to the attacker’s wage demands, Manchester City are among those poised to swoop.
PSG, who play the Coupe de France final against Angers on Saturday, are eager to bounce back after a disappointing campaign in which they fell at the last-16 stage of the Champions League and saw their Ligue 1 crown passed to an exciting Monaco team.
