Plateau High Court in Jos has ruled in favor of Abok Ayuba, reinstating him as the Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly. Ayuba was impeached by members of the State Assembly on October 28, 2021. He challenged his impeachment, claiming it was illegal and violated the rules of the assembly. Justice Nefisa Musa, the presiding judge, granted the plaintiff’s prayers and declared the impeachment illegal.
The reinstated speaker thanked the Plateau people for standing by him during his trials, and he stated that he and his colleagues gave God the glory for the victory of democracy in Nigeria once again. Ayuba stated that his camp would not fight anybody, adding that all members of the assembly were Plateau people and also Nigerians and that they would all work together for the betterment of Plateau and Nigeria. He also stated that he was ready to work with the executive and that it was the only thing that would bring peace to the state.
