In a bid to bring order and transparency to the mining sector, the Kogi State Government has announced a ban on the issuance of consent letters to miners. This decision was disclosed by the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Bashiru Gegu, during a press briefing in Lokoja after a meeting with stakeholders in the mining industry.
Gegu emphasized that all community development agreements related to mining must be approved by the Kogi State Government before any mining operations can commence in the state. He also warned that any mining company found to be in violation of this directive will face immediate sanctions.
