In a recent podcast appearance on “Just for Variety,” Jeremy Allen White, known for his role in The Iron Claw, playfully teased the idea of watching the High School Musical trilogy with his co-star, Zac Efron. The 32-year-old actor revealed that he has never seen the popular musical series but expressed a willingness to do so under one condition.
“I haven’t seen them,” White admitted during the podcast episode. “Sorry, Zac. I will watch them. I will.”
However, the actor humorously added a stipulation to his potential viewing, saying, “only if Zac holds my hand through them,” emphasizing that this condition is non-negotiable.

When the idea of turning the viewing into a charitable fundraiser was proposed, White responded with enthusiasm, suggesting a scenario where he and Efron are filmed watching the movies together in a theater, fingers interlaced. He clarified that he would only watch the films in which Efron is involved, ruling out any spinoffs.
The banter between the two actors has sparked interest, especially given their recent collaboration in The Iron Claw, where they portray brothers Kerry Von Erich and Kevin Von Erich, respectively. The film, released on December 22, delves into the compelling real-life story of a wrestling family, further cementing the bond between White and Efron.
Their camaraderie was evident when White spoke at Efron’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling earlier this month. “It’s as if Zac Efron doesn’t know he is, in fact, a movie star,” White humorously remarked at the event. “So we’re all here today to remind him and put a big star in the ground with his name on it so he’ll never forget.”
Efron, in turn, expressed gratitude to the individuals who kickstarted his career during the ceremony, acknowledging the pivotal roles of High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and producer Bill Borden. “You guys were both instrumental in giving me my start in High School Musical,” Efron shared. “For that, I’m just eternally grateful. I still think about it every day — I sing the songs in the shower.”

The event also saw Efron channeling his inner Troy Bolton, the character he portrayed in High School Musical, as he enthusiastically shouted the iconic phrase, “Go Wildcats!” He further expressed his elation, describing the moment as “a dream come true.”
As the buzz around White and Efron’s banter continues to captivate fans and followers, it remains to be seen whether the duo will indeed embark on a joint viewing of the High School Musical trilogy, potentially turning it into a charitable endeavor.
