Veteran Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo may return to Manchester United’s starting lineup when they face Manchester City on Sunday.

The Portugal captain could get a rare start against City with injury doubts in attack for manager Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo has not started a game in the Premier League since the 4-0 defeat to Brentford earlier in the season.

He was intent on leaving Old Trafford in the summer but made a U-turn after a move failed to materialise.

Ten Hag prefers to play either Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford up front in most games.

Rashford picked up a muscle injury in the 3-1 win over Arsenal earlier this month and is doubtful for the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Anthony Martial, meanwhile, is in a similar position, having also not trained fully this week with the rest of the squad.

The Telegraph reports that should Rashford and Martial fail to return for the City match, Ronaldo would lead the attack.
