Handsome and generous preacher of the gospel, Dr. Chris Okafor, was a year older recently. But unlike other blessed and favoured servants of the God who enjoy celebrating only with the rich and famous, Dr.Okafor marked his birthday differently – dozens of widows, orphans and the poor in his fast-growing church, Mountain of Liberation and Miracle, with headquarters in Ojodu, Lagos, on Sunday, April 29, 2018, were supported with N200,000 apiece, then bags of rice, garri, cooking materials and so on.
Most of the beneficiaries had tears in their eyes as they were called out for the money and gifts. All of them, however, could not stop praying and thanking Dr. Okafor for always coming to their aid. Especially when all hope seemed lost.
One of them who later spoke to us described the prophet as ‘the husband of widows, father of the fatherless and an angel of mercy’.
Adding that since the demise of their breadwinner, Okafor had filled the vacuum created by that. ‘What just happened here today is a daily occurrence. He doesn’t do this only during his birthday and festive period.
But always. And that is why our prayer remains that God Almighty will continue to keep him for us and also keep blessing him’.
Declining to comment on this act of kindness, after the day’s event, Dr. Okafor only muttered that he dislikes talking about things like
that.
‘Mine is that God blesses us to be blessings to others. And not to be talking about it or even making a show out of it. However, there is something major that I would like to talk about – and that is my mandate to win one billion souls for God’.
So, how many of that has he won so far? ‘Well, we are making constant progress. But the truth remains that we haven’t hit the mark yet. We are on a divine journey. Therefore, our destination is guaranteed, by the grace of God’.
