Cardi B on the Drama That Follows Her: “It Stresses Me Out

Let’s be real—when you think of Cardi B, a few things come to mind: hit songs, unforgettable fashion, and yes, drama. It seems like she’s always in the middle of some headline-making situation, whether she wants to be or not. And lately, it’s been a lot. Her recent pregnancy announcement—which came amid an ongoing divorce from her husband, Offset—definitely turned heads and stirred the pot all over again.

But in a new interview with CBS, Cardi opened up about something plenty of people might not realize: she claims she doesn’t actually like the chaos. “I don’t like drama, it just follows me,” she admitted. It’s a relatable feeling, even if most of us aren’t living our lives in the public eye. Who hasn’t felt like they attract unnecessary trouble sometimes?

She even brought up her high school yearbook, where she was voted “most dramatic.” At the time, she said she was surprised. Looking back now, though, she sees a pattern—one that’s only amplified under the spotlight.

So why does it keep happening? Cardi thinks it’s a mix of things. For one, she believes the media targets her because she’s an easy story. But she’s also self-aware enough to recognize that her own personality plays a role. “When you have a big personality like me or when you have a mouth like me or whatever aura that I give, it will follow you,” she explained. She’s outspoken, unfiltered, and unapologetically herself—qualities that make her who she is, but also make her a magnet for controversy.

And behind all the headlines and social media chatter, there’s a real person who feels the weight of it. “It stresses me,” she said simply. It’s a reminder that even when someone seems to thrive in chaos, that doesn’t mean they enjoy it.

Maybe the drama does follow her. But maybe it also comes with the territory when you’re one of the most recognizable and candid artists in the game. Love her or not, you can’t ignore her—and perhaps that’s exactly the point.
