Brand New – “Can’t Get It Out”

Sometimes the best things are the ones you’re not expecting. And, to be completely honest, I hadn’t listened to or even really thought about Brand New since I was in high school. Yet, here they are, in 2017, with new music that’s very much evolved with the time. “Can’t Get It Out” is an opening statement, one that’s still yearning with that angsty release, but has also matured through the years. That backing scream is still there in the background of a chorus; there as a reminder of what they—and we—once were. It’s nostalgic in a way I didn’t know I wanted.
