There’s no occasion quite like the Fourth of July to celebrate all things American. Here at Fashionista, we’ll be spending the week examining the fashion industry in our own backyard, from the state of U.S. apparel manufacturing to American-born models on the rise. You can follow all of our coverage here.
The Onion may have joked about a nonexistent Iowa Fashion Week, but the Midwestern state actually does have one of its very own. In fact, there’s plenty of special fashion events happening in the U.S. outside of just New York and Los Angeles, so we took the time to create a list of (almost) every fashion week happening across the country. Read on to find out if fashion week happens somewhere near you, and if we happened to miss one in your hometown, let us know in the comments below. (Fingers crossed that Calabasas Fashion Week is added to the roster sooner rather than later.)
Alabama
Birmingham Fashion Week
Childhood friends Heidi Elnora (a designer) and Jeana Lee Thompson (a retail business pro) started Birmingham Fashion Week in 2011 to provide fellow fashion fans in their hometown with runway events by both big-name brands, such as Tibi and Rebecca Taylor, and local designers.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Birmingham Fashion Week took place in August 2016.
Fashion Week Alabama
The all-volunteer Alabama Fashion Alliance launched its first Fashion Week Alabama in 2011, and since then, the event has highlighted countless emerging and established designers, as well as small business.
Upcoming dates: September 23 (Fashion Weekend Alabama) and February 28, 2018 (Fashion Week Alabama)
Alaska
At the Anchorage Museum, there was an Alaska Fashion Show in April for designer Peter Williams of Shaman Furs. Other than that, we haven’t found any other fashion weeks taking place in this state. Know of any fashion weeks on The Last Frontier? Tell us in the comments below.
Arizona
Scottsdale Fashion Week
Scottsdale Fashion Week prides itself on merging fashion and music with shows and live performances all on one stage (and runway).
Upcoming dates: TBA. Its most recent event took place in March 2017 featuring both international and national designers, including Zandra Rhodes and George Styler from Serbia.
Phoenix Fashion Week
Phoenix Fashion Week‘s goal is to attract attention towards Arizona’s fashion industry on a global level, which means that the organization hosts events year-round in addition to its anticipated fashion week.
Upcoming dates: October 5-7, 2017
Arkansas
Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week
Arkansas Fashion Week, a non-profit organization, founded Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week as a way to highlight and support the state’s fashion community.
Upcoming dates: TBA. NWA Fashion Week was defunct for a period of time and returned in February 2017 with panels, music performances, a gala and fashion shows that took place in the city of Bentonville.
Little Rock Fashion Week
Little Rock Fashion Week was founded in 2009 by entertainment producer Brandon D. Campbell. The event welcomes both national and international brands to showcase their collections, as well as hosts an annual model search within the area.

California
Made LA
Made Fashion Week launched in Los Angeles last year with Made LA in response to the burgeoning fashion scene on the West Coast.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Made LA’s second season took place in June 2017 with runway shows by Opening Ceremony, Jeremy Scott and, yes, Snoop Dogg.
Fashion Week El Paseo
The Palm Desert plays host to this annual event, which includes trunk shows during the day and runway shows featuring FIDM student collections and “top couture designers.” Fashion Week El Paseo hits its thirteenth year in 2018.

Fashion Week San Diego
Founded by FIDM alum Allison Andrews, Fashion Week San Diego launched in 2012 to a sold-out audience. It prides itself on launching the careers of designers from around the world and also hosts events year-round outside of its official fashion week dates.

San Francisco Fashion Week
Founded by the non-profit corporation San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance, Inc., San Francisco Fashion Week highlights local designers, and being associated with Silicon Valley, a focus on brands and products that push fashion forward in the technology space is also of importance.

Colorado
Colorado Fashion Week
Colorado Fashion Week has presented both emerging and established brands from Denver and beyond since 2011, and the state officially recognizes COFW as a professional fashion trade and public marketing event.

Denver Fashion Weekend
Though not exactly an entire week, Denver Fashion Weekend is thrown every spring and fall by 303 Magazine, along with art exhibitions and live performances in the mix, too.

Connecticut
Connecticut Fashion Week
Almost five years running, Connecticut Fashion Week celebrates its state’s fashion scene with both runway and charity-driven events.
Upcoming date: September 22, 2017 (New Haven Fashion Week)
Hartford Fashion Week
Hartford Fashion Week made its debut in September 2015 and has continued to provide a platform for designers from the Greater Hartford area to present their work.
Upcoming dates: Details for 2017 events will be announced in July.
Delaware
Delaware Fashion Week
In addition to bringing fashion, art, music and diversity to its state’s residents, Delaware Fashion Week, in its fourth season, also holds a top model contest for women, men and children.

Florida
Miami Fashion Week
Evergreen resort town Miami hosts Miami Fashion Week as an international platform specifically for resort collections. Antonio Banderas is the event’s Honorary President.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Miami Fashion Week just wrapped in June 2017.
Miami Swim Week
What better place for swimwear brands to show off their latest offerings than in Miami? The major event, aptly titled Miami Swim Week, is comprised of both fashion and trade shows featuring swimwear labels from around the world.

Tampa Bay Fashion Week
An annual event, Tampa Bay Fashion Week showcases the Bay area’s talented apparel and accessories designers in front of an audience of retail buyers, business owners and consumers.
Upcoming dates: September 20-23, 2017
Gainesville Fashion Week
Gainesville Fashion Week, founded in 2009, hosts North Central Florida area, international and national designers to showcase their work across four days of events.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Its most recent fashion week took place in March and will likely happen again in August.
Delray Beach Fashion Week
Downtown Delray comes alive during Delray Beach Fashion Week as it celebrates local designers with runway shows, games, lunches and pop-up shops that are usually open (and sometimes free!) to the public.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Delray Beach Fashion Week took place at the end of January 2017.
Ankara Miami
Self-proclaimed as Florida’s first African fashion week, Ankara Miami solely features designers from the African Diaspora, including Africa, the Caribbean and throughout the United States.
Upcoming dates: July 22-23, 2017 (Ankara Swim) and February 22-25, 2018 (Ankara Miami)
South Walton Fashion Week
The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County founded South Walton Fashion Week in 2013 as a way to highlight the area’s growing fashion scene. The event also raises funds for the organization’s “Art For All” program, which helps fund art education programs.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent fashion week dates were October 5-8, 2016, with Christian Siriano as a headlining designer.
Orlando Fashion Week
Orlando Fashion Week is an annual event that started in 2012 and happens every April. New and returning designers are approved by the Orlando Fashion Week team for cohesiveness, construction and overall uniqueness.

Georgia
Atlanta International Fashion Week
Now 10 years running, Atlanta International Fashion Week has helped contribute to the city’s thriving fashion and retail scene with its numerous runway shows, special events, fashion workshops and trade shows.

Hawaii
Honolulu Fashion Week
Honolulu Fashion Week, presented by Hawaiian Airlines and Honolulu magazine, was launched in 2014 and highlights local, national and international design talent.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Honolulu Fashion Week took place November 10-12, 2016, and the event is on hiatus this year with plans to come back in 2018.
Idaho
Though a Boise Fashion Week did exist as recently as 2014, we haven’t found any other fashion weeks taking place in Idaho currently. Know of any that happen in the Gem State? Tell us in the comments below.
Illinois
Chicago Fashion Week
Hosted by fashion consulting firm Fashion Bar, Chicago Fashion Week serves as a platform to highlight independent designers, producers and models in the Chicago metro area, proving the city’s ability to be the fashion capital of the Midwest.

African Fashion Week Chicago
African Fashion Week Chicago is a multi-day event that brings African and African-inspired collections to the local buyers, media and the public.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent African Fashion Week Chicago took place October 14-15, 2016.
Midwest Fashion Week
Midwest Fashion Week was founded in 2006 and highlights talented designers from the region’s fashion community, as well as select collections from designers around the world. This coming season, the event will expand from Chicago and Indianapolis with additional dates to show in Paris and New York.
Upcoming dates: October 7, 2017 in Chicago and October 13 in Indianapolis, as well as October 1 in Paris.
Indiana

Iowa
Des Moines Fashion Week
Des Moines Fashion Week, which started in 2016, is a week-long event that highlights the city’s style and design culture.

Kansas
Kansas City Fashion Week
At Kansas City Fashion Week, designers collaborate with stylists, makeup artists, models and photographers to present multiple runway collections to an audience of professional buyers and consumers. The event also helps highlight the city’s garment industry, which, according to its producers was a once-flourishing scene during the 1940s.

Kentucky

Louisiana
New Orleans Fashion Week
Launched in 2010, New Orleans Fashion Week aims to be one of the biggest fashion-focused events on the Gulf Coast. In addition to runway shows, presentations and pop-up shops, the major event also features a modeling competition and plenty of networking opportunities among the area’s fashion industry.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Its most recent event took place March 18-24, 2017.
Maine

Maryland
Baltimore Fashion Week
Founded in 2006 and launched with its first runway show in August 2008, Baltimore Fashion Week features handpicked designers while raising money for the Fashion Umbrella Foundation, which benefits underserved youth.

Massachusetts
Boston Fashion Week
Since 1995, Boston Fashion Week has brought the city’s community of industry professionals and newcomers together to celebrate local fashion talent. Every year special fashion-focused events take place during a week in October, with additional events throughout “Boston fashion season,” which is between September and December.

Boston Curvy Fashion Week
Launched in 2014, Boston Curvy Fashion Week promotes plus-size fashion by providing entertainment and business education on body inclusivity.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Boston Curvy Fashion Week took place in July of last year.
Michigan
Michigan Fashion Week
Michigan Fashion Week was formed in 2012 to showcase MIchigan’s growing talent in fashion, modeling, as well as photography and art to a growing audience of more than 1,200 guests each year.

Minnesota
Fashion Week Minnesota
Fashion Week Minnesota, launched in September 2015 in Minneapolis, spotlights the state’s best fashion industry professionals with a series of public-facing events.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The twice-yearly event last took pace on April 20-29, 2017.
Mississippi
Mississippi Fashion Week
Mississippi Fashion Week takes place twice a year, in addition to a menswear fashion showcase, to highlight the area’s emerging and established fashion designers and retailers.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Mississippi Fashion Week Menswear Fashion Showcase will take place on July 16, 2017, while its Fall Showcase has yet to be announced.
Missouri
Saint Louis Fashion Week
Over the past 10 years, Saint Louis Fashion Week has carefully curated a series of fashion events to showcase both national and local designers to its Midwest audience. Last year, it launched a “Shark Tank”-style event called Caleres Fashion Entrepreneur Competition featuring five St. Louis-based designers hoping to win a $10,000 grant to boost their new business.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Shows take place every spring and fall, although the event’s social media platforms have not been active since 2016.
Mid MO Fashion Week
Mid MO Fashion Week represents exactly what its title says — Middle Missouri — while merging fashion, art and music within its community.

Omaha Fashion Week
For the past 10 years, Omaha Fashion Week has served as an incubator for young and independent fashion designers, providing a platform to showcase their work, as well as offer networking, mentoring and educational opportunities.

International Fashion Week Las Vegas
International Fashion Week Las Vegas is an annual event that gathers industry insiders from all over the world to experience runway shows, model and emerging designer competitions, as well as attend a number of apparel conventions.

New Hampshire
New Hampshire Fashion Week
Launched in 2016 by a group of fashion, media and marketing professionals, New Hampshire Fashion Week is a three-day event that highlights the community’s fashion and entrepreneurial talent.

New Jersey
New Jersey Fashion Week
Since 2010, New Jersey Fashion Week takes place twice a year in Somerset County and features five to 10 selected brands from the New Jersey area to showcase their collections.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent New Jersey Fashion Week took place on April 14-18, 2016.
Jersey City Fashion Week
Produced by the DLJ Give to Live Foundation, Jersey City Fashion Week celebrates the area’s fashion scene while giving back to charities that help to rebuild the community.
Upcoming dates: TBA. According to Jersey City Fashion Week’s Facebook page, there will be an event in 2017.
New Mexico
New Mexico Fashion Week
Created as an affiliate of the Albuquerque Apparel Center in 2012, New Mexico Fashion Week promotes its local and vibrant fashion community, along with additional workshops and events throughout the year to help grow the city’s fashion industry.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent New Mexico Fashion Week took place on April 13-17, 2016.
Santa Fe Fashion Week
Santa Fe Fashion Week focuses on Southwest and American West fashion design while promoting diversity, social responsibility and ethical fashion.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Santa Fe Fashion Week took place in June 2017 with plans to produce a 2018 event.
New York
New York Fashion Week
No need for a thorough explanation, right? New York Fashion Week is the big one when it comes to showcasing the best-of-the-best fashion designers in the U.S.

Fashion Week Brooklyn
Founded by the non-profit Brooklyn Style Foundation, Fashion Week Brooklyn is a bi-annual event that was recognized in 2016 as Brooklyn’s official fashion week to promote established and emerging designers from around the world.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Fashion Week Brooklyn took place on March 25-April 1, 2017.
North Carolina
Greensboro Fashion Week
Greensboro Fashion Week annually showcases the fashion talents of the Triad while providing worthwhile learning experiences to volunteers who aspire to work in the fashion industry and boost efforts to rebuild its downtown Greensboro area.

North Carolina Fashion Week
Formerly known as Fayettevile Fashion Week, North Carolina Fashion Week combines fashion and philanthropy by showcasing local emerging fashion talent and models and donating a portion of the event’s proceeds to various charities in the area.

North Dakota
Fargo Fashion Week
Fargo Fashion Week is both a party and a showcase with nearly 30 runway shows and plenty of giveaways and swag for its attendees.

Ohio
GlamJam Fashion & Music Festival
After 15 years, Fashion Week Cleveland has recently transformed into a more pop culture-friendly event: Glam Jam, a one-night fashion and music festival featuring local designers and bands.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Glam Jam debuted on May 4, 2017.
Fashion Meets Music Festival
Founded in 2014, the Columbus-based festival aims to support local musicians, fashion designers, models and more. With a charitable arm called The Fusion Foundation, the event aims to aid “individuals and groups who support the music and fashion vision of emerging artists.”
Upcoming dates: August 18-19, 2017, with musical acts that include Third Eye Blind, DNCE and Fetty Wap
Oklahoma
Oklahoma Fashion Week
Oklahoma Fashion Week, also known as OKC Fashion Week, spotlights the best of the Oklahoma’s fashion industry.
Upcoming dates: TBA. Its official website is currently under development for an upcoming event in September 2017.
Runway Tulsa
Formed by non-profit organization Oklahoma Fashion Initiative, Runway Tulsa is a week of runway shows and special events. During the rest of the year, Oklahoma Fashion Initiative hosts additional educational programs to help build Tulsa’s fashion community.

Oregon
Portland Fashion Week
Since 2003, Portland Fashion Week has held onto its mission to push a more sustainable approach towards fashion within its community.

Fashionxt: The Shows
Also in Portland, Fashionxt: The Shows focuses on wearable technology and forward-thinking fashion designs from North America and beyond.

Pennsylvania
Philly Fashion Week
More than 10 years running, Philly Fashion Week started as a small production of shows and has now grown into one of the city’s most publicized events showcasing designers from Philadelphia and the surrounding areas.

Rhode Island
Fashion Week RI
Twice a year, Fashion Week RI sets up in a different city to bring together Rhode Island’s fashion community of designers and retailers with entertaining shows and a pop-up marketplace.

Style Week Northeast
Since its first fashion week in 2010, Style Week Northeast, which is based in Rhode Island’s Providence, has featured more than 130 designers on its runway with the mission to be recognized as a major trade event within the Northeast region. The event also exposes young talent through its SEED Student Design Competition.

South Carolina
Charleston Fashion Week
Founded in 2007, Charleston Fashion Week hosts five nights of more than 30 runway shows and a competition for emerging designers.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Charleston Fashion Week took place on March 14-18, 2017.
Columbia Fashion Week
Formerly known as Columbia Style Week, Columbia Fashion Week happens every June and is recognized by the mayor as the city’s first-ever five-night fashion week.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Columbia Fashion Week took place on June 13-17, 2017.
Florence Fashion Week
Florence Fashion Week provides a platform for local fashion designers and businesses in partnership with a local charity, such as the Foster Care Clothing Closet, which provides clothing and supplies to foster children in the Florence area.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Florence Fashion Week was on March 30-April 1, 2017 with plans to announce 2018 dates soon.
South Dakota

Tennessee
Nashville Fashion Week
Founded in 2010, Nashville Fashion Week highlights the city’s growing fashion scene with five days of events and workshops featuring local, regional and national designers, as well as the city’s retail businesses and industry professionals. Proceeds from Nashville Fashion Week benefit the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Nashville Fashion Week took place in April 2017.
Texas
Austin Fashion Week
Austin Fashion Week launched in 2009 and focuses on emerging and established designers. The nine-day event features up to 15 local designers, 10 designers from outside of Austin and about six big-name designers. Capsule presentations are also on display, with 15 to 20 designers showing a collection of three looks each. In 2017, Austin Fashion Week also hosted four select Mexican designers in a new event called “Moda x Mexico.”
Upcoming dates: April 6-15, 2018. In addition, Fashion X hosts events in Dallas (September 30, 2017) and Houston (October 5-7, 2017).
Houston Fashion Week
Now in its tenth year, Houston Fashion Week supports local, national and international designers based in Houston, Texas.

Utah
Utah Fashion Week
Founded in 2014 and based in Salt Lake City, Utah Fashion Week is comprised of shows ranging from swimwear to bridal, pop-up shops and an industry afterparty.

Virginia Fashion Week
Launched in 2007, Virginia Fashion Week showcases emerging designers and models from across the East Coast.

Richmond Fashion Week
Every year, the folks behind Richmond Fashion Week collaborate with local designers and businesses to bring awareness of the area’s fashion community to the public.

Washington
Bellvue Fashion Week
Located at The Bellvue Collection shopping center, Bellvue Fashion Week features exclusive runway shows, trend-focused events and a competition for some of the Northwest’s leading independent designers.

Seattle Fashion Week
Under the direction of a new CEO, Seattle Fashion Week was completely rebranded in 2016 and continues to serve as a platform for Seattle’s fashion community.

Washington D.C.
Indie Fashion Week DC
Indie Fashion Week DC‘s goal is to bridge the gap between consumers and independent businesses within the Greater Washington D.C. area, as well as build its fashion community.
Upcoming dates: TBA. The most recent Indie Fashion Week DC took place on February 27-March 5, 2017.
DC Fashion Week
DC Fashion Week, which is held twice a year in February and September, hopes to increase visibility of the nation’s capital development in fashion, retail and modeling.
