Brendan Rodgers has praised Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes ahead of the Scottish Cup final and says Celtic expect a tough game at Hampden.

The Parkhead side go into Saturday’s showpiece event at the national stadium, live on Sky Sports 1, having beaten Aberdeen five times this season, including a 3-0 win in the League Cup final in November.

Rodgers believes Celtic stand an excellent chance of completing a domestic treble if they play to their best at the weekend but says McInnes deserves credit for his work at Pittodrie in a season which has seen the Dons finish second in the Scottish Premiership and reach two cup finals.

“Derek has done a great job, not just this year but building up over the course of the last four seasons. They have had a really high standard of play,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.

“We’ve played them five times and won the five games and they have all been slightly different in terms of how they have performed and how they have played.

“But he has them very well organised, they are very well drilled, they play to their strengths and, even though we won the League Cup final and played very well, and in the league, they have all been tough games.

“For us it is really about what game we bring to Hampden and if we can bring our best game then we feel we have a really good chance of winning.”
