Kogi State Government Assures No Plan to Arrest ADC Governorship Candidate

In a recent development, the Kogi State Government has made it clear that there are no plans to arrest the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon Leke Abejide. This assurance was given by Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information in the state.

The statement comes after Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to provide maximum protection to the ADC candidate. The court also prohibited the DSS, the Police, and Kogi governor, Yayaha Bello, from inviting, arresting, detaining, or threatening the life and properties of Abejide until the hearing and determination of a suit filed against them by the politician.

Addressing the issue, Commissioner Fanwo stated, “No one is trying to arrest any of the candidates running for the governorship election. No one is after him (Leke Abejide, ADC governorship candidate). We don’t know why he’s running helter-skelter that he should not be arrested.”
