Glen Johnson, the former Chelsea defender, has expressed his disagreement with Ralf Rangnick, the former Manchester United interim manager, regarding his recent comments on Christopher Nkunku’s decision to join Chelsea. Johnson defended the 25-year-old star, who will join the Chelsea squad this summer from RB Leipzig, amid questions over his imminent arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Rangnick had said that it hurt his heart to see Nkunku join Chelsea due to the current state of the Blues, who have failed to win a game since caretaker manager Frank Lampard took charge of the West London club. He also questioned whether Nkunku had made the right decision.

However, Johnson does not agree with Rangnick’s remark and defended the France international. In an interview with King Casino Bonus, he said, “I don’t agree with Ralf Rangnick at all about Christopher Nkunku coming to Chelsea too early. It’s not great at the moment, but Chelsea are still Chelsea.”

Johnson emphasized that Chelsea is a fantastic football club with fantastic players, but they are currently undergoing a lot of changes. He acknowledged that the club is struggling at the moment, but he does not think Nkunku regrets signing early.

Nkunku is expected to bring some much-needed creativity and attacking flair to the Chelsea midfield. He has been one of the standout performers for RB Leipzig this season, with four goals and nine assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Despite their recent struggles, Chelsea remains one of the biggest clubs in world football, and the addition of a player of Nkunku’s quality is likely to improve their chances of success in the upcoming seasons.

However, the pressure will be on Lampard to turn things around quickly and get Chelsea back to winning ways. The former Blues midfielder was appointed as the club’s caretaker manager in December following the sacking of Maurizio Sarri, and he has faced a difficult task in getting the team to play with confidence and consistency.

Chelsea has a tough run of fixtures coming up, with games against Tottenham, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool in the next few weeks. Lampard will need to find a way to get the best out of his players and ensure that they are up for the challenge.

In conclusion, while Rangnick has expressed concerns over Nkunku’s decision to join Chelsea, Johnson has defended the move and emphasized the quality of the club and its players. Nkunku’s arrival is likely to improve Chelsea’s midfield and increase their chances of success, but Lampard will need to work hard to get the team playing with confidence and consistency.
