The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued more clarifications over the opening of markets during the lockdown being enforced because of the COVID-19.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye and made available to DAILY POST, the FCTA noted that “only shops and stalls selling food and groceries shall be allowed to open to customers between 10am and 2pm on alternate days or less frequently.”

This was agreed following a meeting between the FCT Administration and relevant security agencies on Monday, April 6.

“Accordingly, Markets in Abuja will now operate only three times weekly; that is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10am to 2pm.

“This means that after the close of market activities on Wednesday April, 8th, the next market day will be on Saturday, 11th April, 2020,” part of the statement read.

These are part of measures being employed in addition to other social distancing measures already put in place, to limit the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in Abuja.
