Fenerbahce, one of the Turkish Super Lig giants, has confirmed that their defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, sustained an injury during training. The former league champions, however, did not disclose when the Nigeria international will return to action.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, Osayi-Samuel underwent MRI imaging at Altunizade Hospital Acibadem Saglik Grubu Altunizade Hospital after receiving a blow during training. The screening revealed that the player had suffered bleeding and tearing in his left thigh muscle, and treatment has begun.

The injury comes as a blow to Osayi-Samuel, who is now doubtful for Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone. The Super Eagles are set to face John Keister’s men on June 18.

Osayi-Samuel, who is 25 years old, has made three appearances for the Super Eagles. The injury will be a setback for both the player and the Nigerian national team, who will be hoping for a speedy recovery.

Fenerbahce fans will also be disappointed to hear the news, as Osayi-Samuel has been a key player for the team since joining Queens Park Rangers in January. The defender has made 16 appearances for the club, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

The injury will also be a concern for Fenerbahce manager, Emre Belozoglu, who will be hoping to have Osayi-Samuel back in the team as soon as possible. Fenerbahce is currently in second place in the Turkish Super Lig, just two points behind leaders Besiktas.

Osayi-Samuel’s injury is just the latest setback for Fenerbahce, who have been hit by a number of injuries this season. The club has already lost key players like Enner Valencia, Diego Perotti, and Mame Thiam to injuries this season.

Despite the injuries, Fenerbahce has managed to stay in the title race, thanks in large part to the performances of players like Osayi-Samuel. The team will be hoping that the defender can make a speedy recovery and return to action as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Fenerbahce will have to rely on their other defenders to step up and fill the void left by Osayi-Samuel’s absence. The team has a number of talented players in defense, including Mauricio Lemos, Filip Novak, and Attila Szalai.

Fenerbahce will next be in action on May 1 when they face off against Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig. The team will be hoping to secure a win and keep the pressure on Besiktas at the top of the table.
