In a recent turn of events, renowned actor and preacher, Yul Edochie, has come forward to address speculations surrounding his relationship with movie producer Henry Odenigbo, amidst the shocking revelation of Odenigbo’s alleged involvement in a kidnapping ring.
The controversy unfolded when filmmaker and actor Stanley Nwoko, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, shared images of the controversial producer, Odenigbo, insinuating his role as the ‘mastermind’ behind the notorious kidnap gang that met a fatal end in a shootout with the Lagos State Police Command.
While the Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the criminal group had orchestrated plans to target affluent individuals within the state, the identities of the deceased kidnappers were not officially revealed.

Taking to Instagram to respond to the unfolding situation, Edochie vehemently refuted claims of any friendship with the late Odenigbo. He clarified that the circulating photo of himself alongside the deceased was captured during a movie shoot in June, emphasizing that their interaction was limited to that professional setting.
Setting the record straight, Edochie expressed, “According to the police, the guy is a kidnapper. I’ve heard stories and noticed that some blogs posted my picture with him, implying he’s my friend. So, I want to state that the guy wasn’t my friend. I’ve been in Nollywood for 19 years, going on 20 years.”
Detailing the encounter, Edochie revealed, “I only saw this guy once when I shot a movie for him a few weeks ago. A director contracted me for a movie and paid me for a job. I even thought it was the director’s movie until I came to the set and met this guy.”

Identifying the individual as Ason-Rich Henry, the actor continued, “He came to me, introduced himself as Ason-Rich Productions, and said his name was Henry. We greeted them, I shot the movie, and on the last day of shooting, he came to me and said he was so excited that he finally got to work with me.”
Edochie further elaborated, “I think he also played a role in the movie. He asked if he could take a picture with me, and I said okay. We took pictures, and I left for the next set. That was the first time I saw him, and I never saw him again.”
Dispelling any misconceptions, Edochie emphasized, “That’s the picture a lot of people are circulating. I understand people are circulating the picture and saying he’s my friend. He is not my friend. I got to know him as a producer, and I don’t know why people are circulating my picture.”
The unfolding saga has shed light on the complexities of the entertainment industry, underscoring the importance of discerning fact from fiction in the realm of celebrity associations and professional collaborations.
