On June 8, a fourth transgender woman survived being shot multiple times but her case is considered a domestic assault and not connected to the others.

In a statement by transgender rights activist, Gina Duncan, she said: ‘The transgender community in Jacksonville is frightened. They fear this could be a serial killer or orchestrated violence targeting the community. They do not feel protected on their own streets.’

Paige Mahogany, the head of the Jacksonville Transgender Awareness Project, also told NBC News in a phone call: “The transgender community feels like there’s a target on their backs. We don’t feel safe in Jacksonville.”

According to Daily Mail, Jacksonville police were investigating the three murders as separate cases and there was nothing to indicate they were connected.
