Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro Selects Four NPL Players to Boost Squad Depth

Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro, has revealed that he selected four Nigeria Premier League players to fortify the team’s lack of depth. The reigning NPL champions’ goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke, Rivers United goalie Victor Sochima, Ebube Duru, and Bendel Insurance wonder kid, Divine Nwachukwu, have been invited to the team.

Speaking to wowplus in Lagos, Peseiro admitted that although he may not have invited the best, he is confident that the players will provide formidable options to the team. “I selected these four players primarily for specific positions in the team,” he said. “I know we still have better players in other teams that didn’t feature in the NPL Super Six playoff. But the players invited will definitely give the team options in different departments.”

The Super Eagles have been in preparation mode for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, and Peseiro is keen to ensure that the team has a strong squad to choose from. The inclusion of the NPL players is seen as a way to bolster the team’s depth and provide more options for the coach.

Ojo Olorunleke, who plays for Akwa United, was instrumental in helping his team win the NPL title last season. His performances earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the first time. Rivers United goalie, Victor Sochima, has also been in fine form and is expected to provide stiff competition for the other goalkeepers in the squad.

Ebube Duru, who plays for Lobi Stars, is a versatile defender who can play in multiple positions. Bendel Insurance wonder kid, Divine Nwachukwu, is a promising young forward who has been turning heads in the NPL. His inclusion in the squad is seen as a sign that Peseiro is looking to the future and is keen to develop young talent.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Liberia and Cape Verde in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Peseiro is confident that his team will be ready for the challenge and is looking forward to seeing what the NPL players can bring to the squad. “We have a strong team, and I believe we can qualify for the World Cup,” he said. “The inclusion of these NPL players will only make us stronger.”

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has also expressed its support for Peseiro’s decision to include the NPL players in the squad. In a statement, the NFF said that it was pleased to see the coach looking to develop young talent and was confident that the players would make a positive impact on the team.

The inclusion of the NPL players in the Super Eagles squad is also seen as a boost for the domestic league. The NPL has been struggling to attract fans and sponsors, and the inclusion of its players in the national team is seen as a way to raise the league’s profile and attract more investment.

In conclusion, the inclusion of Ojo Olorunleke, Victor Sochima, Ebube Duru, and Divine Nwachukwu in the Super Eagles squad is a positive development for Nigerian football. It shows that the coach is looking to develop young talent and is keen to give domestic players a chance to shine on the international stage. The NPL players will provide valuable depth and options for the Super Eagles squad, and their inclusion is sure to be welcomed by fans and stakeholders alike.
