Akure, Ondo State – The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest region has strongly criticized their counterparts in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over their recent ultimatum to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The APC youths, gathered in Akure, the state capital, yesterday, expressed their unwavering support for the Governor and dispelled any notions of a leadership vacuum in the state.

During a well-attended press briefing, Comrade Kolade Lawal, the youth leader of the APC in the region, emphasized that Governor Akeredolu’s absence from the state was solely for the purpose of recuperation and regaining his strength. He assured the public that the Governor would return to the state soon, dismissing the ultimatum issued by the PDP youth wing as baseless.

“The Governor will join us in a few days’ time, but not in response to the threat of the opposition parties,” Lawal stated confidently. “The Ondo state government does not owe a dime of salary. The Governor is in Ibadan, where it is important for him to rest and recover.”

Lawal further emphasized that the activities of governance were ongoing and that Governor Akeredolu had been actively engaged despite his absence. “He has had Zoom meetings with Obas and other groups, and has been in constant communication with the people,” Lawal revealed. “We are optimistic that he will soon make a complete recovery and physically join us. Just as even God rested on the seventh day, recognizing the importance of rest and rejuvenation, Governor Akeredolu’s decision to seek rest and adjust his work schedule is a testament to his human nature.”

Lawal also reminded the public of Governor Akeredolu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and security of the state. “Let us not forget the days when Governor Akeredolu stood firm and defended Ondo State and the Southwest as a whole when herdsmen went on a killing spree,” Lawal passionately stated. “He has been a strong pillar and voice for the voiceless. We owe him our understanding and trust. He has proven himself to be a leader for all seasons.”

The youth wing of the PDP had given Governor Akeredolu a three-day ultimatum to return to the state or resign from office. However, the APC youths firmly stood their ground, assuring the public that the Governor’s absence did not hinder the smooth running of the state’s affairs.

As the controversy surrounding Governor Akeredolu’s absence continues, it is evident that the youth wing of the APC in the Southwest region remains steadfast in their support for the Governor. Their unwavering belief in his leadership and dedication to the state’s welfare serves as a testament to the strong bond between the Governor and the youth of Ondo State.
