The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige on Monday inaugurated the new board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

The inauguration took place at the banquet hall presidential villa in Abuja despite face-off with NLC.

This is coming at a time the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, threatened to go on a one-day national protest.

DAILY POST recalls that Ngige had asked workers to disregard the call by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for a one-day national protest on Monday.ngige 1

Ngige made the call in a statement issued by Mr Nwachukwu Obidewe, his Special Assistant on Media, in Abuja on Friday, saying the directive by the NLC President, Mr Ayuba Waba, that workers protest on Monday, May 13, 2019, was unlawful.

Ngige, who the NLC and NUPENG, is accusing of attempting to secretly inaugurate the board of the National Social Insurance Trust Fund, had described the recent protest at his Asokoro residence by labour as hooliganism.ngige2
