Riyad Mahrez still expects to leave Leicester this summer, despite revealing he has received no formal offers regarding a move away from the King Power Stadium.

The Algeria winger confirmed in May that he had asked to leave the Foxes, just over a year after helping them win the Premier League title.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who recently signed a new two-year deal at the Emirates, said earlier this month that he was considering making a bid for Mahrez.

But the 26-year-old told Algeria’s Elheddaf Television: “There’s a big difference between an offer and speculation, so there is nothing on the table at the moment.

“The chairman and I agreed that I would stay another year at the club and that he would let me leave at the end of the season.

“I think it would be the right time for me to leave, I have experienced everything at this football club.”

Mahrez was named the 2015-16 PFA Player of the Year after netting 17 Premier League goals in Leicester’s sensational title-winning campaign.

Shakespeare signs Foxes deal

Craig Shakespeare has signed a three-year contract to remain as Leicester manager

He was rewarded with a new four-year contract last August – a deal which included no buy-out clause – but failed to recapture the same form that he showed during the previous season.

Mahrez scored only six times in the Premier League as Leicester, who replaced manager Claudio Ranieri with Craig Shakespeare in February, finished in 12th place.
