Lisa Kudrow, who played the iconic role of Phoebe Buffay on the hit television series “Friends,” recently revealed that she didn’t enjoy playing her character’s twin sister, Ursula. Despite the fact that fans loved seeing Kudrow play against herself, the actress found it challenging to act with her real-life sister, Helena, who played Ursula.

According to Kevin S. Bright, who directed part of the series, Kudrow wasn’t fond of acting with a double. “She did not like acting with a double, and in a way, she might have made it more difficult for herself because her double was her actual sister,” Bright shared during the Tribeca TV Festival. He also noted that Kudrow may have put undue stress on her sister during those scenes. “But it ended up being a lot of fun when you put it together,” added Bright.

Ursula, who was Phoebe’s twin sister, only appeared in eight episodes of “Friends” in person, according to Fandom. However, she was mentioned three more times. Her last onscreen appearance came in 2001’s “The One With The Halloween Party.” During the episode, Ursula further proved why she was the worst sister ever by nonchalantly informing Phoebe about her upcoming wedding. “Why not, you could be my ‘sister’ for the day,” said Ursula after reluctantly inviting her.

Kudrow’s revelation about her dislike for playing Ursula sheds light on the challenges actors face when playing multiple roles in a series. It also highlights the importance of having a good working relationship with one’s co-stars. Despite the difficulties she faced, Kudrow’s portrayal of both Phoebe and Ursula was still a fan favorite and contributed to the show’s overall success.
