In a recent interview with Dutch ESPN, former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman shared his thoughts on where football icon Lionel Messi will be playing next season. Koeman suggested that the departure of two of Messi’s close friends, Sergio Busquets, and the imminent exit of Jordi Alba, means that the Argentine may be heading elsewhere.

Messi’s future has been up in the air since his reported decision to leave PSG at the end of the season. The 2022 World Cup winner has been linked with a return to his boyhood club, but Koeman believes that Messi will not be returning to Camp Nou.

“It surprises me to see how Barcelona are going to renovate their stadium, how they just keep going while being in so much debt,” Koeman said. “I don’t expect Messi to return to Barcelona. Busquets will leave, Jordi Alba isn’t certain to stay too and these three are close friends. It wouldn’t surprise me if they would leave for Miami or Saudi Arabia together.”

Koeman’s prediction comes as a surprise to many football fans who were hoping to see Messi return to Barcelona. However, the former manager’s comments shed light on the current state of the club’s finances and the impact it may have on the team’s future.

Barcelona has been struggling financially for some time now, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only made matters worse. The club has a debt of over €1 billion, and it has been difficult for them to make any major signings in recent years.

The departure of Busquets and Alba, two key players for Barcelona, will be a significant blow to the team. Both players have been with the club for over a decade and have played a crucial role in the team’s success over the years.

Messi’s departure from PSG is also a cause for concern for many football fans. The Argentine has been in fine form for the French club this season, and his presence has been instrumental in their success.

However, Messi’s future is still uncertain, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season. Many clubs will be interested in signing the football icon, and it will be interesting to see where he decides to go.

For now, Messi is focused on helping PSG win the Champions League. The French club is one of the favorites to win the competition this season, and Messi will be hoping to add another trophy to his impressive collection.

As for Barcelona, the club will need to make some major changes if they want to compete at the highest level. The departure of Busquets and Alba will be a significant blow, and the club will need to bring in some new players to fill the void.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Barcelona and Messi, but one thing is for sure: the football world will be watching closely.
