Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, Man Utd has described Phil Jones’ performance for the Red Devils against Wolves as ‘class’.

Jones, who has been out of action for two years due to injury, made a shock return to Man United’s starting XI against Wolves on Monday night.

The 29-year-old defender was impressive against Wolves as David de Gea was able to keep the game level until Joao Moutinho scored the winner with 9 minutes left to give the visitors all three points against Ralf Rangnick’s side.

“For someone [Phil Jones] to come in from the cold like that, you have to tip your hat to someone like that,” Ferdinand said on his podcast.

“I’m just pleased he got through the game unscathed, no injuries. He put in a decent performance after such a long time out, that is not easy to do. So you have got to tilt your hat to Phil Jones.

“Albeit, his header was the one that fell to [Joao] Moutinho’s foot before he scored, but I thought he was class for long periods in the game.”
