The Nigerian Football Coaches Association have expressed shock at the death of foremost sports journalist, Eddie Bekom.

President of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association, Ladan Bosso said members of the executive were shocked after receiving the news of the death of the Vice President (South-South) of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Eddie Bekom who died Sunday evening at the Federal Medical Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, in Ebonyi State.
Bekom whose death was as a result of injuries sustained in a fire incident at his home in Ikom, Cross River State on July 1, died two weeks after he was rushed to the hospital, in neighbouring Ebonyi State.
The late journalist lost a daughter, his wife and eventually himself in the incident.
Reacting to the sad development, Bosso said, “we are all shocked and in grief over the sad event and pray God to grant the souls of the departed eternal rest.”
He said “we at the coaches association are saddened by the loss of one of Nigeria’s brightest journalists in such inexplicable circumstances. We are all going to miss his contributions to the development of football in Nigeria and sports in general.”
Bosso said the association will continue to pray for the survival of Divine, late Eddie’s daughter and another kid who are still receiving treatment at the same hospital.
