Barcelona boss, Xavi Hernandez, has rated his team’s chances of winning the UEFA Champions League this season.

Xavi believes Barcelona may not be considered one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season.

The Spaniard, however, recognises that Barcelona’s ambition and objective are to win the Champions League this term.

Speaking ahead of his side’s Champions League group stage tie with Czech side Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday night, Xavi said at his pre-match press conference when asked to discuss the Blaugrana’s chances of winning the Europe top-flight trophy:

“We’re going to compete and dream of winning it, otherwise I’d go home and be with my family.

“I want to win. I can’t conceive of competing without winning.

“But, we have to be careful about saying we’re favourites. It’s a complicated group.”

“Every game is different, it’s not the same with Liverpool as it was in Munich,” Xavi added.

“We will try not to repeat that and we’ll try to compete.

“The competition is extremely demanding. We want to compete until the end to win it.”
