Celebrities widely influence public opinion, frequently setting trends and drawing attention to various products and services. One product that has gained the attention of several celebrities is Ozempic, a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes and aid in weight loss. In recent years, famous personalities like Dolores Catania, Chelsea Handler, Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, Patti Stanger, and Amy Schumer have all publicly discussed their experiences with the medication.

Dolores Catania, the star of “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” is one of the celebrities who isn’t keeping her use of Ozempic a secret. In April of 2023, she shared her reasons for including Ozempic in her weight-loss strategy. Dolores said that she was going through menopause, had a thyroid issue, and had inflammation, making it difficult to lose weight.

Comedian and actress Chelsea Handler also tried Ozempic. However, she disclosed that her doctor had prescribed it without educating her about the medication. Chelsea later realized that the medication wasn’t right for her, but she could understand the appeal of using the drug. “It’s too good to be true,” she explained (via People). “You can just make people who struggled with weight their entire lives thin? It’s a miracle.”

Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, a personality from “Shahs of Sunset,” also shared that she used Ozempic to assist in shedding extra weight. On the “Behind the Velvet Rope” podcast, Patti Stanger, who previously starred in “Millionaire Matchmaker,” disclosed, “I’m on the shot.”

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer also tried Ozempic, but her experience was negative. “I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son,” she disclosed on “Watch What Happens Live” (via Page Six). “I was so skinny.” Amy also urged her peers to disclose their use of weight-loss aids rather than implying that they lost weight through natural means.

Ozempic is a once-a-week injection that helps regulate blood sugar levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes. However, the medication has also been approved for use as a weight-loss aid in those without diabetes. Ozempic is a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, which helps reduce hunger and regulate insulin levels, leading to weight loss.

According to a clinical trial held in 2020, patients on Ozempic experienced a 5.6% average weight loss, which was higher than the 1.2% average weight loss experienced by those who received a placebo. Other studies also support the effectiveness of Ozempic as a weight-loss aid.

While Ozempic is an effective weight-loss aid, it isn’t without its risks. Severe side effects, such as pancreatitis and thyroid tumors, have been documented in rare instances. In most cases, these complications occur in individuals with a history of pancreatitis or thyroid issues. In general, Ozempic’s benefits outweigh its risks, making it a viable option for patients with type 2 diabetes and those wanting to lose weight.

In conclusion, celebrities’ experiences with Ozempic have brought the medication into the public eye. While the medication has notable benefits, it’s essential to consult with a medical professional before starting any new medication or treatment. Overall, Ozempic has helped many individuals with type 2 diabetes and those trying to lose weight, including celebrities like Dolores Catania, Chelsea Handler, and Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi.
