Naofumi Iwatani is just another otaku college student from Japan who doesn’t like going out, doesn’t have many friends, and spends most of his time reading light novels.
One day, while browsing through a light novel, he is summoned into a different world, along with three other guys. When he comes back to consciousness, he finds himself surrounded by a group of cloaked men, who start calling them heroes. He notices that he has a shield attached to his arm, which he can’t move, and the hooded man calls him the shield hero.
