Woohoo! Barry Manilow and Bette Midler rocked it together back in the day! But, let’s be real, their partnership wasn’t always rainbows and unicorns. The Winnipeg Free Press spilled the tea that they didn’t trust each other, and they often screamed at each other while workin’ on their tunes. But hey, they had mad respect for each other’s talent, and that’s what kept ’em together for a whoppin’ three years!

One of their most famous collabs was for Midler’s debut album, “The Divine Miss M,” and let’s just say there were some bumps along the way. Manilow was not only her accompanist but also her music director, arranger, and record producer. Whew, talk about wearing all the hats! Manilow butted heads with co-producer Joel Dorn and fought tooth and nail to keep his arrangements alive. When Dorn abandoned his efforts, Manilow brought in a live audience to capture that epic sound they had on stage.

Despite their ups and downs, Manilow and Midler made some killer tunes. Manilow was ready to move on in ’74, but Midler kept pushin’ him to do one more gig. So, they stayed together until they eventually parted ways—til they reunited again in the 2000s! What an epic duo!
