34-year old Housewife sent to prison for forging official stamps of 7 States

A 34 year old housewife, Mosumola Ilori has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly conniving with others still at large to forge the official stamp of seven States in Nigeria and using the fake stamps for commercial purposes for unsuspecting members of the public.

 

Also arraigned with her for the same offence was 45-year old Muyiwa Okubadejo. Police Identified the States the accused persons allegedly forged their official stamps as Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Edo and Delta States.  Other forged stamps recovered from the accused persons, according to the Police included that of Lagos State High Court, Lagos State Commissioner for Oath, Ikoyi Obalende Local Government Development Area and many others.

 

A Police source said that operatives of the Federal investigation and Intelligence Department, FCIID, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos swooped on the accused at their office at Ikoyi, Lagos and recovered the exhibits following a tip off from the public.  T

 

he accused persons were charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a four-count charge of felony to wit, forgery. Police Prosecutor, Henry Obiazi informed the court in charge No P/13/2018 that the accused persons committed the offence in January, 2018 in Ikoyi.  Obiazi told the court that the accused forged the official stamps of about seven States in Nigeria, LGAs, Lagos High Court and Commissioner for Oath without authority and using the fake stamps for commercial purpose for members of the public.

 

Obiazi said the offences the accused persons committed were punishable under sections 411, 365 (3)(a)(1) and (1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.  While Ilori pleaded guilty when the charges were read to her in English and Yoruba Language, Okubadejo pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate F.F George granted bail to him in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum. George adjourned the case till 12 March, 2018 for mention.
