Odumodublvck’s Bold Promise: Quitting Music When His Crew Hits Big

There’s something surprisingly honest and kind of touching about when artists talk about their journey—not just for themselves, but for the people around them. Recently, Odumodublvck, a rapper who’s been making waves in the Nigerian music scene, shared a personal goal that’s caught a lot of attention. He said he’s ready to quit music once all his friends in his hip-hop group, the Anti World Gangstars, become successful musicians themselves.

A Promise Rooted in Loyalty and Hope

On his X platform, Odumodublvck put it plainly: “Once all my n*ggas make it in music, I’m out.” It sounds a bit dramatic, maybe. But you can’t really blame the guy for feeling protective over his team. This collective, which he’s part of, isn’t just a casual association — it’s made up of him and four other rappers—Agunna, Fatboy E, Reeplay, and Shagba—plus their producer Cross. If you think about it, that kind of loyalty isn’t that common, especially in such a competitive industry.

Odumodublvck’s career has been on the rise for a few years, especially after his hit “Declan Rice” came out in 2023. He’s even called that track “the most impactful” Nigerian hip-hop song ever. Now, I can’t say I’d boldly agree or disagree without thinking it over, but it shows how passionate and confident he is about his work. And it’s not like he hasn’t earned a seat at the table—collaborations with big names like Davido, Skepta, and Stormzy don’t come easy.

The Struggle of the Underdogs

But here’s the thing. While Odumodublvck’s name is becoming more recognized, his friends are still grinding in the background, mostly underground. It’s kind of a stark contrast. You’d expect that since he’s shining so bright, some of that light would spill over; yet, they remain relatively unnoticed by the mainstream.

Something about that feels… real. It’s not always smooth sailing, even when you’re part of a tight-knit group. Fame and success have this unpredictable path. Sometimes one person climbs faster, while others take longer, or maybe never quite break through the way you hope. Odumodublvck’s promise to step away once his whole squad makes it sounds noble, but it also speaks to a frustration—or maybe a weariness—with the unevenness of success.

And I think that’s something we don’t hear enough about. There’s this constant rush to celebrate only the winners or the ones in the spotlight, but plenty are still battling, even with connections. It kind of makes me wonder about the pressure Odumodublvck might feel—not just to succeed but to be the one to pull everyone else up.

What Happens Next?

Now, will Odumodublvck actually quit when that moment comes? Hard to tell. Sometimes, artists say big things in the heat of the moment, and life takes a different turn later. And quitting music just like that? It sounds pretty extreme because music isn’t just a career—it’s passion, identity, and for many, a calling.

But if I had to guess, maybe what he really means is that he wants to reach a point where he feels he’s done his part—where his friends have had their shot at the spotlight and he can step back without worry. Or maybe it’s a way to remind himself, and us, that success isn’t just about the individual but about lifting others.

Whatever the case, Odumodublvck’s words have sparked a conversation about friendship, ambition, and the realities of the music scene. It’s messy, unpredictable, and sometimes unfair. Still, it doesn’t stop people like him from hoping—or even promising—that everyone in their circle gets their chance to shine.
