Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has urged the executive and legislative arms of government to work hard towards improving human capital development in the state. He made this known when he received members-elect of the Yobe State House of Assembly who paid him a courtesy visit after receiving their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni thanked the legislators, stating that the victory in the just concluded election was a collective victory for the people of Yobe State. He emphasized the need for both the Executive and Legislative arms of government to work together in the interest of the state and its people.

“As a government, we will expand our scope of engagement to include all stakeholders and the youth for good results,” he said.

The team of new legislators, led by Hon. Buba Kalalawa, assured the Governor of their support and commitment to working together to move the state forward. Kalalawa also emphasized the importance of building on the harmony that currently exists between the two arms of government for the benefit of the people of the state.

“We are here to congratulate each other, and you should always count on us for support and cooperation on every policy and program that would move Yobe State forward,” he said.

The Governor’s call for improved human capital development is timely, as Yobe State is in dire need of development in various sectors. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the state’s economy has been greatly affected, and there is a need for urgent intervention to ensure the well-being of the people.

This synergy between the two arms of government is necessary for the achievement of development goals in the state.
