Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has urged manager, Pep Guardiola to sign a new contract and remain at the club.

Rodri said that Guardiola is the perfect coach to lead Man City to win more trophies in the near future.

Guardiola’s current contract at Man City runs until the summer of 2023, with question marks looming over his future at the Premier League champions as the former Barcelona manager remains tight-lipped on any new deal.

But Rodri believes Guardiola is best suited to extend his stay at Man City despite having already spent longer at Etihad than any other clubs he has managed previously.

“We all love him, he’s done a great job in recent years,” Rodri told The Times.

“He’s our manager and if he decides to stay, we are all going to be so happy. I have been with Pep for three years now and I hope there can be many more.”

He added, “It is a fact that coaches get tired. I saw Diego Simeone, coaches who have been 11 or 12 years with the same team, and it’s understandable.

“But with this team we have for the next few years, I think Pep can see the future of this club.

“He has to be here. He is the perfect coach for us and we can win more things together.”
