Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has reviewed the curfew imposed on troubled communities in Lamurde and Guyuk local government areas of Adamawa State.

Curfew had been imposed on Waja and Lunguda-speaking communities of the two LGAs following a deadly clash over land ownership and use.

“It is exactly one month today that I directed the imposition of curfew on Lafiya and Boshikiri as well as the surrounding villages of Mumseri, Mere, Kupte and Zakawon following the unfortunate breach of peace even after repeated attempts to broker peace in those Communities,” Fintiri said in a statement passed to newsmen on Friday by his Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

“The curfew which was 5pm to 6am is now eased to commence from 9pm to 6am daily and the review takes immediate effect,” the governor said in the statement.

“The development is as a result of the relative peace that has returned to the areas,” Fintiri added.

He urged security agents to continue to discharge their duties and advised residents to cooperate with the agents “to maintain the status of Adamawa State as one of the most peaceful especially during the Sallah break.”

The government on June 8, 2022, imposed a curfew on the two LGAs in its bid to facilitate a return to peace after the bloody clash that claimed four lives.
