Nigeria News : Democracy Day: Governor Buni calls for sustainable, improved development in Yobe, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State on Friday said that democracy has propelled speedy development, stating that there is a need for government to ensure sustainable and improved development for the betterment of the state and the people.

In a press release issued and signed by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Muhammed on Democracy Day in Damaturu, governor Mala said, the democracy day occasion should be used to appreciate Almighty Allah for the uninterrupted democratic governance enjoyed in the country.

“Our people have had the opportunity of participating in the governance through an elected representative to defend their interest at all levels and this has translated into purposeful governance and development,” Buni added.

He urged the people of the state to seize the occasion of the democracy day to pray in mosques and churches for improved peace, security, and development of the state and the nation in general.

According to him, Yobe State has moved so fast with lots of programs and projects executed by the various government which has improved the lives of the people.

“We should, therefore, use the occasion to appreciate almighty Allah and promote democracy to thrive stronger,’ the governor said.

He assured that his administration will promote democracy, healthy competition, rule of law and equality.

The governor also urged the people to remain law-abiding, promote peaceful coexistence, and be vigilant on issues that are inimical to peace.

Buni expressed optimism that in spite of the challenges faced by the country, Nigeria will emerge stronger.
