Ahead of the 2019 budget debate, Nigeria’s Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has ruled out any possible mischief despite the lack of quorum on Tuesday.

Speaking with DAILY POST after the Senate adjourned, the lawmaker said, plenary was shut down for lack of quorum, saying that lawmakers were used to 10.30 am sitting.

Bwacha explained that Senators who are not participating in electioneering campaign were enough to form a quorum at any sittings, hence, there shouldn’t be fear over unlikelihood of passing the 2019 budget into law.

“Once we adjourned, you could see some Senators trooping in. Passing budget will not be a problem because some Senators who are not participating in electioneering campaign could form a quorum at any sittings. ”

“Secondly, election is slated for 16 February, 2019, immediately after the election, everybody is expected to be here. So I don’t see reasons the budget would not be passed before the end of this session.”
