The couple recently disclosed to People magazine the intriguing details of their conflicting desires for marriage, which ultimately delayed their union. Povich candidly shared, “We ping-ponged. When one wanted to get serious, the other one didn’t.” This back-and-forth dynamic persisted, with Povich recalling a pivotal moment when he proposed to Chung, only to be met with her reluctance. “At one point I proposed to her, and she said, ‘No, I’m not ready,’ and then she asked me if I wanted to get married, and I said, ‘No, I’m not ready,'” Povich explained. The situation took an unexpected turn during a vacation to Italy when Povich proposed once more, yet Chung remained hesitant. Eventually, a change of heart occurred. “She called me and said, ‘We can get married.’ I said, ‘Really?’ She said, ‘Yes, because I found a dress,'” Povich revealed, emphasizing the unusual nature of the agreement. Chung later admitted that the stipulation was “embarrassing” but marked a turning point in their relationship.

Following their marriage, Povich and Chung opened up to The Washington Post about their unique living arrangement, which involved living bi-coastally and occasionally missing significant events such as Valentine’s Day due to their demanding schedules. Despite the challenges, the couple found solace in their shared love of cooking. Chung expressed, “We can’t possibly be together. It’s very sad, but you can bet we’ll make up for it over the weekend.” Their weekends were often dedicated to creating one of their favorite meals: a home-cooked steak and french fries. Povich elaborated on their culinary adventures, saying, “We get the good stuff — center-cut tenderloin — and cut it into long slices.” He humorously added, “Connie in her inimitable ways will only eat Wonder Bread. Wide slices, at that.”
