In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the body of Precious Ofurum, the talented sound engineer who tragically lost his life in a boat mishap that also claimed the life of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, has been exhumed and reburied in his hometown in Rivers State.

The devastating incident occurred on April 10 when Precious, Junior Pope, and three other crew members were involved in a fatal boat accident in the River Niger, Asaba, Delta State. They were on their way to a movie location when tragedy struck, leaving the entertainment industry in mourning.

Initially, due to financial constraints, Precious was laid to rest by the riverbank in Asaba, as his family was unable to meet the costs of transporting his body back to his hometown for a proper burial. However, his grieving mother made a heartfelt plea to the Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, for assistance in bringing her son’s remains home.

In a poignant video shared on social media by Movie Producer, Stanley Nwoke, the process of exhuming Precious’ body and preparing it for reburial in Rivers State was captured. The emotional footage showed the late sound engineer’s family, as well as members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), coming together to honor his memory and give him a final resting place in his beloved hometown.

The solemn ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, was a bittersweet moment for all those who knew and loved Precious. The community gathered to pay their respects and bid farewell to a talented individual whose life was cut short in a tragic accident.

As the white coffin containing Precious’ remains was solemnly carried to his final resting place, the echoes of grief and loss reverberated through the air. The sound of prayers and hymns filled the atmosphere, as friends, family, and colleagues gathered to say their final goodbyes to a beloved son, brother, and colleague.

The reburial of Precious Ofurum in his hometown in Rivers State symbolizes the closure and healing that his family and loved ones have been seeking since his untimely passing. While the pain of his loss will never fully fade, the act of bringing him back to his roots serves as a poignant reminder of the impact he had on those around him and the legacy he leaves behind.
