Opportunist thieves and professional burglars are always on the lookout for an easy mark and it is increasingly likely that your business premises have been looked at for opportunities to break in and steal what is yours. We unfortunately live in a world where people don’t want to work hard for a living like you do and so they want to make money quickly and easily by stealing what doesn’t belong to them. This is why you need to do whatever is in your power to protect what you worked hard for up until this point in your life. The last thing that you want is for someone to break into your business premises because this can really upset your employees because they feel quite vulnerable at the time.

Many Australian businesses are now investing in professional business security systems so that they can properly protect themselves and restrict access to people you shouldn’t be in certain areas at certain times or shouldn’t be there at all. If you own your own business here in Australia then it’s time that you started being proactive instead of reactive when it comes to the security of your business and your employees. The following are just some top tips to help you to address and beef up the security in and around your business premises.

  • Complete a proper risk assessment – You need to know exactly where your business is vulnerable and so try to identify where burglars might be able to get into your business premises. Talk to your staff about such things as sometimes they have a better idea than you do and figure out where the areas are that are vulnerable to attack. This will allow you to take necessary steps. You should also put security rules into place so that staff knows what to do.
  • Set up access control – If you don’t do this then customers and people who are there to case the joint will be able to move freely in and around your premises. There are a number of access control systems that you can implement like keypads and swipe cards to get into any particular area. This will also allow you to keep an eye on where your employees are because some businesses suffer from employee theft also.
  • Invest in a quality alarm system – It is always best to have a deterrent in place because if an opportunist thief or burglar sees that you have spent money on an alarm then they may take their business further down the road to find easier pickings. The right kind of alarm system can notify both you and the police if anyone enters your business premises and due to modern technology, you can install a camera system that will allow you to see who is on your premises and in some cases, you can actually see them.

Put the above into place and you will have the peace of mind that you need today and always.
