The Fascinating Life of Sabrina Guinness: From King Charles III’s Girlfriend to Philanthropist and Socialite

0

King Charles III’s courtship with Sabrina Guinness, the 24-year-old heiress to the Guinness brewery fortune, made headlines in 1979. At the time, the couple was described as “besotted” with each other, and Princess Margaret even characterized their relationship as “serious.” However, despite King Charles III taking Guinness to the family’s ancestral home at Balmoral, the romance cooled off due to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s disapproval.

According to Hello! magazine, King Charles III was deeply infatuated with Guinness. However, the late Queen Elizabeth II was not fond of her, and the relationship ultimately fizzled out. Furthermore, Guinness wasn’t interested in settling down, and neither was King Charles III. “I love being with him, but please don’t try to marry us off — he’s not ready for marriage yet,” Guinness reportedly said, as per the wowplus.

Despite being King Charles III’s “liveliest girlfriend,” the couple parted ways after a nine-month courtship. The Daily Mail reported that Guinness went on to have a romance with actor Jack Nicholson. Guinness relocated to Los Angeles for a year, where she worked as a Montessori-trained nursery teacher and met Nicholson. One of the children under her care was actor Ryan O’Neal’s daughter, making the job a bit more glamorous than the average teaching gig.

Although Nicholson has never spoken publicly about the relationship, photographs of the couple can still be found on the internet.

Sabrina Guinness, now 68, has continued to make headlines throughout her life. She has worked as a documentary filmmaker, socialite, and philanthropist. In the 1980s, she dated French President François Mitterrand’s son Jean-Christophe Mitterrand. She was also briefly engaged to the artist Francis Bacon, who famously painted a portrait of her.

Furthermore, Guinness has been heavily involved in charitable work throughout her life. In the 1980s, she founded Youth Cable Television in New York City, a television station that provided young people with the opportunity to create and produce their own shows. She has also been a vocal advocate for animal rights and has worked with several organizations dedicated to the cause.

Guinness has also been a fixture on the London social scene for decades, regularly attending high-profile events and charity galas. In 2011, she was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Bath in recognition of her charitable work.

In 2020, Guinness made headlines once again when she was named as one of the witnesses in the defamation case brought by Johnny Depp against the British tabloid newspaper The Sun. Depp was suing the newspaper over an article that referred to him as a “wife-beater.” Guinness was one of several witnesses called to testify in the case, which ultimately resulted in a verdict in favor of The Sun.
