Proposal at Sunset Cliffs

Give us a proposal caught on film and there’s a good chance we’ll absolutely *MELT*… And we have a feeling that you might too! Are you prepared for all the sweetness of Mark proposing to his darling? Don’t say we didn’t warn you! Here’s a little backstory: Mark wanted to go ALL out for his love, Jacqueline. He studied her Pinterest boards and was spot on with everything. He hired Adore Folklore, along with Details, Darling to style this whole boho bliss proposal. The two are from Arizona, and they traveled to San Diego for it… Except she thought it was a “vacation” the whole time. Way to go, Mark!!

Their story begins in 2012 when Jacqueline was working as a stylist in a salon that Mark would visit every few weeks. He tells us, For years her name would randomly come up in conversation with friends — followed by, “You know who would be perfect for you… Jac!” Our timing always seemed to be a bit off but after months of impatiently waiting, she finally agreed to going to dinner. By our second date, something almost indescribable happened: I just knew. I knew she was my future and I would eventually be her everything. Completely out of character I told her, “I’m going to marry you one day, just you wait and see.”

Oh just wait… Mark pulled out all the stops + Weddings by Lex captured this surprise proposal PERFECTLY. Let’s see how he did it!

Mark tells us Turns out that planning an epic proposal takes months of research, coordination, and dedication. One night while laying on the couch, Jac showed me a picture on Pinterest of a boho-inspired beach wedding — one of those pictures that almost appear to be fake they’re so perfect. She squealed with excitement, “This is my dream!”.  Well, that single picture served as my inspiration throughout the planning of the proposal. I had one goal, to give her the same feeling she gives me everyday we’re together. UM, are you melting yet? How cute is he?!

Finally, after weeks of scouring the internet for the perfect beachside location, I came across Sunset Cliffs in California. This location just had fairytale written all over it. Now that the location had been decided, how did I make all of Jac’s dreams of boho bliss a reality? I enlisted the help of a local vendor, Adore Folklore, that specialized in vintage decor. Every detail from the Moroccan pillows to the hand-built teepee were carefully selected.

Getting everything set up was no easy task either. A team of friends had to hoist each item off the cliff to a resting bluff area below overlooking the ocean. Now that the stage had been set, I had to get Jacqueline and our baby daughter, Bodhi, to California without any sneaking suspicion. So, we road tripped to California from Arizona for a “quick family getaway” and so Bodhi could experience the ocean for the first time. After countless hours of preparation, the day had finally come.
